2000

Johnson Matthey opens new autocatalyst manufacturing plant in India. Company receives second MacRobert Award for the Continuously Regenerating Trap (CRT®) system to control emissions from heavy duty diesel vehicles

2001

New European autocatalyst plant opened in UK using advanced production technology. Autocatalyst production facility in China also opened. Work starts on dedicated fuel cell membrane electrode assembly manufacturing facility in Swindon, UK. Acquisition on Pharm-Eco Laboratories and Meconic plc which become part of Pharmaceutical Materials Division

2002

Johnson Matthey acquires 'Synetix' catalyst business from ICI, Cascade Biochem and Avocado Research Limited

2003

Tracerco, part of Johnson Matthey Plc, receives the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation

2004

The company opens a new platinum group metal catalyst manufacturing plant in Taloja, India and acquires the AMC Group of companies and Lancaster Synthesis. The Pigments and Dispersions business is sold. Johnson Matthey celebrates 30 years in the development of autocatalysts

2005

Tracerco, part of Johnson Matthey Plc, receives the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade

2006

Johnson Matthey acquires Davy Process Technology, a process design and technology licensing company

2007

Johnson Matthey launches its Sustainability 2017 Vision. Ceramics Division is sold and the company reorganises into three global divisions to give greater focus on the development of technologies concerned with protecting the environment. The Gas Processing business of Johnson Matthey Catalysts is awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade category

2008

Johnson Matthey acquires Argillon additing to our existing technology for controlling harmful emissions of oxides of nitrogen. New emission control technology manufacturing facilities are opened in South Korea, the Russian Federation and Royston, UK

2009

Johnson Matthey wins three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. Two of the awards are made to the Emission Control Technologies business for the compact catalyst soot filter which controls diesel emissions from passenger cars. Tracerco also wins a Queen’s Award for its radiation monitors

2010

New emission control catalyst manufacturing facilities are opened in Macedonia, Smithfield in the USA and Shanghai, China. Johnson Matthey acquires Intercat, Inc., a supplier of speciality additives to the petroleum refining industry
