China is an expanding market for Johnson Matthey in the area of catalysts for vehicles and technologies that enable coal to be converted to clean burning fuel. With our continued expansion across the region, strong leaders with the right skills and values will be essential for the sustainability of the business. We have established the China Leadership Development initiative to meet this need.

The programme strengthens the skills and engagement of the prospective leaders and accelerates their personal and career development

The programme is aimed at supervisors and junior level managers. Delegates attend three modules, each module lasting two or three days. The programme strengthens the skills and engagement of the prospective leaders and accelerates their personal and career development. They learn about the culture and values of Johnson Matthey and the role of leaders within Johnson Matthey China.

Many of the skills learned are interpersonal and leadership skills – building trust, coaching, communicating with others, team building , giving feedback effectively and ensuring that performance, whether their own or that of others, aligns with the company's goals and strategy. Success in mastering these skills is what makes a good leader.
