Apprentice R&D Technician

My journey so far
How the world works has always fascinated me. When my A levels didn't go as well as I'd hoped, that gave me uncertainity about what was next. I eventually found a really exciting role at Johnson Matthey as an Apprentice R&D Lab Technician.
The opportunities at Johnson Matthey are vast. By moving between departments, I've been able to work on lots of different projects, from 3D printing to microscopic analysis. In each project I've expanded my skillset, learning how to use a large variety of machinery and equipment.
I’m grateful that I've been able to learn from and pick up on the different skillsets from so many people around me. I've been inspired by those that took a similar career path in beginning as an apprentice, then developed their technical expertise in more advanced roles.
Now I'm looking forward to growing my skills and doing the same, especially mastering the advanced analytical instruments I use regularly.
Working at Johnson Matthey has allowed me to develop a career for myself. I definitely feel that I’ve grown and matured a lot quicker than I imagine I would have elsewhere.
