Dimethyl formamide (DMF) process

Dimethyl formamide (DMF) is produced by reacting dimethylamine with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst at low temperature and pressure in a specialised reactor. Crude DMF is separated from the homogeneous catalyst and then refined to a high quality product.

Johnson Matthey license the DAVY™ DMF process, which is well-proven commercially.

The simple system adds a reaction step to our proven methylamines technology to deliver a value-added and high-grade product. Alternatively, if a pre-existing DMA source is available, we can provide the flowsheet for stand-alone conversion to DMF.
