Brazing pastes and powders

Our brazing pastes consist of a filler metal alloy in powder form and where appropriate a flux. These components are held together in a uniform paste by a specially formulated binder system. The end product is a custom made brazing or soldering solution that can offer unique benefits. In particular brazing and soldering pastes are used in production where there is a need to manufacture large numbers of joints.The benefits of using a paste product for soldering or brazing can often only be achieved with the full support of technical teams that understand the products; we are well placed to offer this support globally.

SILVER-FLO 56 Brazing Paste is a custom made solution for improving the quality and production rate of brazing operations. It consists of SILVER-FLO 56 powder, a free-flowing, low melting silver brazing filler metal, combined with a flux-binder system to form a smooth dispensible paste.

The resulting product is a fully dispensable custom-made brazing paste.

SILVER-FLO 24 brazing paste is a specially formulated paste product intended for use in semi- automated brazing processes or where the use of a paste offers other advantages. It combines SILVER-FLO 24, a comparatively high melting temperature silver brazing filler metal, in powder form with a flux-binder system selected to match an individual application. The resulting product is a fully dispensable custom-made brazing paste.

SILVER-FLO 55 Paint consists of a silver brazing filler metal powder (SILVER-FLO 55) and a brazing flux (EASY-FLO™ Flux Powder) combined in a volatile organic solvent. The proportions of filler metal to flux are optimised to make the paint suitable for brazing small components by most heating methods.

The silver brazing filler metal in this product - SILVER-FLO 55, is cadmium-free. It combines a low brazing temperature with a short melting range, is very free flowing and produces neat joints with small fillets. These characteristics make it an excellent general purpose silver brazing filler metal. 

Joints made with SILVER-FLO 55 Paint are suitable for seawater applications, being resistant to dezincification. The optimum joint gap for this filler metal at brazing temperature is normally 0.05-0.15mm.

ARGO-BRAZE 502 brazing paste is a specially formulated paste product intended for use in semi or fully automated brazing processes, or where the use of a paste offers other advantages. It combines Argo-braze™ 502, a filler metal particularly suitable for tungsten carbide and PCD, in powder form with a flux-binder system selected to match an individual application. The resulting product is a fully dispensable, custom-made brazing paste ideal for brazing tungsten carbide and PCD segments.

Johnson Matthey B BRONZE paste is a specialised copper based brazing paste. It is mainly used as a furnace-brazing paste for use on mild steel components where joint gaps are variable or too wide to use a standard copper paste.

C BRONZE brazing paste was developed for furnace-brazing and is used for brazing carbide tipped drills. It contains manganese and nickel both of which provide improved wetting and bonding on cemented tungsten carbides. For this type of application with an air-hardening type of steel, simultaneous heat treatment of the tool shank, at temperatures between 800-1040°C is possible.

Johnson Matthey Copper 99.9% is a standard copper-based brazing paste. It was developed as a furnace-brazing paste and is a economic solution for brazing mild steel components with joints that provide an interference fit.
