Johnson Matthey sponsors Women in PGMs to promote gender equality in the industry

On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Johnson Matthey has announced it is a lead sponsor of the Women in PGMs (WiPGMs) network. The network brings women from across the various segments of the platinum group metals value chain together to discuss, debate, mentor and grow the industry and their roles within it.

Johnson Matthey has a long heritage in using the special properties of platinum group metals (PGMs) in a wide range of applications that benefit society, from cleaning the air we breathe to ensuring the future of clean energy. And the company helped create one of the world’s first circular economies in platinum group metals, and today we’re the world’s largest recycler of PGMs.

Ruth Leland, Refining Global Commercial Director, Johnson Matthey, said: “I’m delighted that Johnson Matthey is a lead sponsor of Women in PGMs. Diversity, inclusion, and personal development are at the very heart of JM’s core values and the objectives of WiPGMs greatly align with these. Personally, I have seen the value that this group has delivered so far, and I’m excited that we can support its future growth and success.”

John Cullen, PGMS Commercial Director, said: “We’re extremely proud to be sponsoring Women in PGMs and the professional and personal support they offer. At JM we want to give women as many opportunities as possible, and by supporting this great network we hope to encourage talented women to join, to remain and to progress to become leaders in the industry, removing any obstacles they face in doing so.”
