Code of Ethics

Doing the right thing underpins everything we do

Our Code of Ethics, called ‘Doing the Right Thing. Together.’, and associated group policies, set out the expectations we have of everyone working at JM, irrespective of location. The Code of Ethics is a practical guide, providing clear guidance on what doing the right thing means; making good, ethical decisions; asking for help; and how to speak up with serious concerns. It also includes a decision-making tool, assisting anyone who faces an ethical dilemma or difficult decision.

Our Ethical Culture Heat Map

Every year we produce an Ethical Culture Heat Map (“EC Heat Map”) which provides an indication of the ethical culture across JM’s largest sites, utilising several sources of data, including a question on ethical behaviour in our yearly YourSay survey; evaluation of Speak Ups in the site; Ethics Ambassador representation and completion of yearly Code of Ethics training.  Using a traffic light rating, the Ethics & Compliance and wider legal team apply the EC Heat Map to determine their yearly strategy and action points, including targeted training and communication, site visits, cooperation with leadership and audits.
