
At Johnson Matthey, we create space for our ethnically diverse employees to enhance their skills and develop their careers. By 2027, our goal is to have at least 15% ethnic minority representation across the senior leadership team.
Partnerships & recognition
JM works with a number of external partners and have signed several initiatives to demonstrate our commitment to race and ethnicity inclusion. We continuously look beyond our business to measure ourselves against the high standards set by experts and industry benchmarks so that we can continuously develop and improve.
Asian Network
The Asian Network is a voluntary group created to embrace JM’s global diversity strategy. The group is dedicated to the interests of employees who self-identify as Asian. The Asian Network is a safe space for members to share experiences, build community, and raise awareness of common API challenges. It aims to support the development of Asian employees and provide a safe space where all members may freely express their concerns and share their experiences.
Black Employee Network
The Black Employee Network (BEN) is a voluntary group created to embrace JM’s global diversity strategy. The group is dedicated to the interests of those whole self-identify as Black and are committed to community development, realising the potential of our young people, and the recruitment and retention of Black employees.

McKinsey & Co. Connected Leaders Academy
JM employees participate in annual cohorts of the McKinsey & Co’s Connected Leaders Academy, designed to improve talent pipelines and unlock the full potential of Black, Asian, Hispanic, and Latino employees.
Reverse Mentoring Programme
Through the Reverse Mentoring Programme, ethnic minority employees at JM are paired with a company leader to share their unique experiences. It aims to broaden the perspectives of leaders at JM as to what certain marginalised communities experience, while also giving a voice to ethnic minority employees.
Awareness and education
Our ERGs, ambassadors, and the DI&B team regularly host several educational webinars on various topics relating to ethnicity inclusion, designed to raise awareness of the experiences of ethnic minority employees and develop strategies for fighting bias and racism.
