Chiral ligands
Chiral phosphine ligands are a critical tool that enables transition metal catalysis to achieve highly chemo-, diastero- and enatioselective transformations. While preformed ligand-metal complexes may provide practical advantages and higher productivity, the use of chiral ligands with platinum group metal (PGM) or earth abundant metal (EAM) precursors have their own advantages. They allow for greater exploration of a vast chemical space and the rapid identification of suitable catalysts for the desired asymmetric transformation.
Advantages of chiral ligands:
- A critical enabling and tunable component for any asymmetric catalytic step.
- Broad scope for discovery of new transformations when combined with metal PGM and EAM precursors.
- Ideal to develop new applications and to find the best substrate-catalyst combinations.
