Iridium Noyori catalysts
Covering a similar application space to ruthenium Noyori catalysts, an iridium Noyori catalyst offers additional high reactivity on selected 'difficult' substrates or transformations, such as chloro-ketones or reductive aminations. The IrCp* moeity, isoelectronic to the Ru(arene) moiety expands the structural diversity of the transfer hydrogenation class of catalysts and provides more options for reactivity in water or under pressure hydrogenation conditions. Like rutheniun Noyori catalysts, reverse reactions (dehydrogenation and deracemisations) can find useful applications.
Advantages of Ir Noyori catalyst:
- Very active in asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of C=O and C=N bonds.
- Complementary to ruthenium Noyori catalysts with more solvent (e.g. water) and conditions (e.g. hydrogenation) options.
- Offers higher activity and selectivity on some substrates and transformations.
