Doing the Right Thing - celebrating Ethics Week at JM

Celebrating Ethics Week at JM - 18th to 22nd October 2021

It’s Ethics Week at Johnson Matthey and an opportunity for everyone to celebrate and reinforce our culture of Doing the Right Thing.

It’s a time for us to shine a spotlight on ethics with our Code taking centre stage in the celebrations. The Code of Ethics is our guide to Doing the Right Thing at JM. It defines the way we do business, underpins our strategy and provides us all with a framework to work openly, honestly and ethically. The Code demonstrates that, at JM, it’s not business at any cost.

What does ‘ethics’ mean to you in your role?

That’s the question we’re asking our people this week.

We’re asking everyone to consider what ‘ethics’ really means to them in their role – what does Doing the Right Thing look like? We’ll hear first-hand accounts from colleagues who will share their thoughts with us. We’re also very excited to be speaking with one of our key customers and hearing about the important role ethics plays in their organisation.

This week our people will be invited to complete our annual Code of Ethics online training course. The training reminds us all of our company values and enables everyone to acknowledge their personal responsibility for conducting business ethically, whilst protecting JM’s reputation.

Celebrating around the world with our Ethics Ambassadors

At JM, we are proud to have an established Ethics Ambassador (EA) network in place. Our EAs play an integral role in helping to raise the awareness and importance of Doing the Right Thing at JM sites around the globe.

During Ethics Week, our EAs will be running activities to engage employees globally – from fun quizzes and team tasks, to sharing ethical dilemmas and hosting decision making discussions. It’s an opportunity for everyone to pause and reflect on what ‘Doing the Right Thing’ really means at JM.

“Ethics Week is a time for colleagues across JM to pause and think about what Doing the Right Thing looks like here. We all have an important part to play in protecting and strengthening JM’s ethical culture.”

Group Head, Ethics and Compliance
