Tracerco launches new grout monitoring system for offshore wind turbines and platforms

New innovative product enables offshore operators in the oil and gas and offshore renewables market to ensure the quality and strength of grout.

The unique technology launched by Tracerco, who are part of Johnson Matthey, is known as Tracerco Diagnostics™ Grout Monitoring, and is able to provide quick and accurate grout density profiling. Real-time monitoring allows grout density to be measured as it is pumped during installation. This gives offshore operators the information they need to determine that the density of the grout is as specified in the design – ensuring a secure foundation.

Kim Thye Lee, Strategic Market Support Manager, Tracerco, said: "Tracerco's unique grout monitoring system ensures that accurate grout data profiles can be quickly obtained. Where operators may have previously needed to over pump the grout volume, our highly reliable density measurements remove that requirement, saving on raw material costs and reducing the time taken during clean up. This, combined with live data recording and robust analysis, ensures that grout pumping can be optimised with a full traceable record of activity."

The system can be interfaced with any type of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and can also be deployed using a diver - minimising the amount of vessel time. A simple and quick calibration method also reduces the equipment set up time and ensures ease of use.
