JM Macedonia wins award at Skopje Marathon

Last month, 208 JM runners were collectively recognised as the most participants representing one company at the Skopje Marathon.

JM’s Macedonia site has long been affiliated with the Skopje Marathon, and our participation as a company has grown year on year since we entered nine runners back in 2011. In 2012, 17 of our employees took part, 37 in 2013, 70 in 2014, 105 in 2015, 130 in 2016 and 149 in 2017, before our highest total of 208 employees ran this year on May 6th.

This year’s total was representative of just over 22% of the plant workforce – a percentage the site hopes will continue to grow in the coming years. HR Learning and Development Coordinator, Boro Kostevski, said: “We want to set the benchmark for other sites and companies, and will continue to promote the benefits of keeping fit and healthy. You can expect to see the streets of Skopje filled with Johnson Matthey runners for a long time.”

Johnson Matthey is committed to promoting the physical and mental wellbeing of its employees, and this award is a great example of how we continue to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Boro continued: “Not only has our participation in the Skopje Marathon helped our people improve their fitness, reach their goals and raise money for incredible charities, but it has also helped cement a stronger team spirit, which can only benefit our workplace.”

The award for the most employees from one company taking part in the event was also handed to JM Macedonia back in 2014, and following this year’s second taste of success, the site hopes it will make it a hattrick of honours in 2019.
