Catalytic converters: fighting pollution for 50 years and beyond
One in three cars on the road are fitted with a Johnson Matthey catalytic converter. Our catalysts and filters prevent millions of tonnes of harmful pollutants, like nitrogen oxides and particulates produced by gasoline and diesel engines, from entering the air.
“A catalytic converter is a product which is in the car, near the engine, that converts harmful emissions with catalysis into less toxic gases." - Irina Batkovska-Borozanova, Production System Coaching Specialist.
Despite incoming deadlines to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles, we’re not going to see the traditional combustion engine disappear overnight. Working in close collaboration with our customers, at JM we’re ensuring that the vehicles on our roads are as clean as possible while the transition towards zero emission transport takes place.
“The world is changing in the emissions legislation, for example the Euro 7 legislation has been talking about meeting very stringent measurements. So we have been able to innovate with a new filter with a new coating method to be able to meet that." - Yaritza López, Global Technical Account Director.
“It makes me proud to know that the work that I'm doing today will ensure the next generations enjoy cleaner air for many years to come." - Ceren Aydın, Global Technical Account Director
