Keeping people safe
The nature of our business means we have complex chemical processes that often involve heavy machinery and hazardous chemicals. At JM, safety is our number one priority. Our 2030 sustainability targets include a 0.25 total recordable injury and illness rate and a 0.40 ICCA process safety event severity rate, as we continue to improve our safety performance.
We encourage our employees to ‘Take 5’ – to take some time before starting a new activity to make sure they are working in a safe and secure environment. This simple action helps reduce incidents and drive continued improvements in our processes. to mitigate potential risks and ensure safe operation.
Creating a diverse, inclusive and engaged company
A high-performance culture is critical to the execution of our strategy. We are making good progress in creating a more market-focused, agile and less bureaucratic company, where people can be truly customer-centric and thrive in their roles.
Performance and innovation require diversity of thought, background and representation, as well as a culture of inclusion and belonging. We have established diversity, inclusion and belonging (DI&B) ambitions within our four areas of commitment: gender, disability and neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ and ethnicity, including targeting 40% female representation at all management levels by 2030.

Upholding human rights and high ethical standards
Our approach to human rights considers our entire value chain, including our own operation, suppliers, partners and customers. We have set ourselves a commitment to assess all of our value chain partners for human rights risks by 2030.
We foster a responsible and sustainable supply chain by collaborating closely with our suppliers. We actively engage and support our suppliers on their sustainability journeys and our human rights and responsible sourcing expectations are included in our supplier code of conduct.

Doing the right things underpins everything we do. Our Code of Ethics is a practical guide for all our stakeholders to follow, assisting anyone facing an ethical dilemma or difficult situation, and our independent Speak Up helpline is available for anyone wishing to raise a concern.
Investing in our communities
Being a responsible neighbour is core to our community investment approach. Through our volunteering and matched funding programmes, we're strengthening the communities surrounding our sites by contributing to their long-term resilience and sustainability.
We remain committed to working with local partners and schools to remove barriers to STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education. Through our global community impact programme, Science and Me, we're contributing funding, expertise and time to help young people access quality STEM education and opportunities.
As a global company with a leading role in the net zero transition, we engage actively with non-profit organisation, policy mnakers, business associations and global alliances. This helps ensure we maximise our positive impact on society by playing our role in developing sustainable solutions, and setting the right sustainability objectives.
