Safety first, always
We are committed to protecting the ecosystems where we work and those we serve. The nature of our business means we operate complex chemical and metallurgical processes that involve heavy machinery and hazardous materials. Delivering metals that matter for a healthier world, relies on our ability to manage risks effectively and ensure the safe operation of our manufacturing sites, laboratories and offices.
Take 5, a key element of our behavioural based safety programme, drives positive improvements in our EHS culture by equipping colleagues with a user-friendly tool for considering risk in all aspects of their work and empowering everyone to stop and reassess work, both physically and mentally. Take 5 lies at the core of all our safety engagements, campaigns and Global Safety Days, which we have held for four consecutive years. Through structurally embedded EHS risk assessments and process hazard analyses, we also drive risk elimination, reduction and mitigation across the company.
Helping people to feel healthy, secure, supported and connected
We have a wellbeing strategy in place to support all employees and help them focus on four wellbeing pillars: physical, financial, social and mental health. Employees are provided with Elements, a personalised web platform and app to access wellbeing resources and support. This includes an employee assistance programme (Assist) which provides confidential counselling for mental health and work-life services.
A high-performance culture is critical to the execution of our strategy. We are making good progress in creating a more market-focused, agile and less bureaucratic company, where people can be truly customer-centric and thrive in their roles.
Performance and innovation require diversity of thought, background and representation, as well as a culture of inclusion and belonging. We know that when people feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work, this has a significant positive impact on employee mental health and wellbeing. We have established diversity, inclusion and belonging (DI&B) ambitions within our four areas of commitment: gender, disability and neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ and ethnicity, including targeting 40% female representation at all management levels by 2030.
